In 2002 at Muscatine and Abbe Hills, the effect of gypsum as a soil amendment to enhance crop (organic pepper and corn) production, performance, yield and postharvest quality was tested. Gypsum applications did not have any statistically significant effects on pepper yield and quality. Corn yields and quality were not statistically different among treatments. However, for both crops there was a trend toward greater yield with gypsum. Yield and postharvest quality results were similar for organic and conventional treatments. From Iowa State University.
